The Sollers Group, which includes the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, has taken the initiative to ask the Ministry of Industry and Trade to exclude UAZ vehicles from the list of models approved for taxi services. The company's press service reported this to the Auto.ru magazine.
Sollers explained the decision by stating that the specifics of taxi transportation in most cases do not require the off-road capabilities that distinguish the brand's models.
Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade published a list of about 20 cars from six Russian manufacturers that meet the requirements for taxi operation — UAZ vehicles were included.
Meanwhile, the developers of the Atom electric vehicle from Kama JSC reported that after the start of mass production, the car will also be able to be used in taxis.
