A two-seat multirole 4+ generation Su-30MKI fighter of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in the northeastern state of Assam in India. This was reported by the Indian Air Force Command.

The Su-30MKI crew was performing a training flight. The fighter crashed in the Karbi Anglong area, 60 km from Jorhat.

According to the Indian Air Force Command, the last time the aircraft made contact was at 19:42 (17:12 Moscow time) on March 5. Both pilots died. The cause of the crash is not specified.

Su-30MKI is a modification of the Su-30MK for the Indian market. The contract for the supply of the first 40 Su-30K/MK aircraft by Russia was signed in the fall of 1996.

The fighter is equipped with AL-31FP engines, which allow it to reach a speed of 2125 km/h. The Su-30MKI received a GSh-301 cannon with a magazine of 150 rounds. Up to 8000 kg of combat load can be suspended on 12 pylons, including R-27, R-77, Ch-29, Ch-25 guided missiles, KAB-500, KAB-1500 air bombs.
