Drones Learn to Sort Waste for Recycling

Programmers have developed neural network datasets for recognizing types of waste

Young programmers have developed an IT solution that allows drones to identify and sort waste for subsequent recycling. This was announced by Dmitry Gachko, the founder of the "IT Park Rus" technology park.

Specialists have created datasets (data sets) of a neural network for waste recognition. They were uploaded to the Wheelies platform for drone control.

Datasets allow you to identify objects, distinguish whether it is waste or not waste, and divide it into categories.

Tests of drones with new software were carried out at a training ground that simulated a waste recycling base. The tests confirmed that aircraft can perform the function of sorters.

Gachko stated that developers are now preparing a universal platform for managing all types of drones: air, water and land. With its help, drones can be used for irrigation of agricultural land, delivery of goods, monitoring the integrity of pipelines and illegal logging, as well as fires in natural areas.
