The legendary 1938 GAZ M-1 — the famous "emka" — has been put up for sale. The car is in perfect condition with a mileage of only 10 thousand kilometers, which is a unique figure for an almost century-old vehicle.
Under the hood is a 3.5-liter gasoline engine producing 76 horsepower, a manual transmission, and rear-wheel drive. The black sedan was produced from 1934 to 1948 and became one of the most famous Soviet cars of the pre-war era.
Several years ago, the car underwent restoration in a specialized workshop and retained 70–80% originality. The seller offers the possibility of bringing the authenticity up to 90–95% for an additional fee. The vehicle passport has not been issued for the car. The price of the legendary "emka" is 10 million rubles.
The history of the car's creation is also interesting: in 1929, the Soviet Union signed an agreement under which it received documentation for the Ford Model B — a model introduced in the United States in 1932. Based on it, Gorky designers developed their own "emka." But although it resembled the Ford externally, technically it was already a deeply reworked car with original solutions.
