Leading researcher at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Nathan Eismont, said that the first total lunar eclipse in 2026 will occur on March 3 and will last 74 minutes. At this moment, the Earth's satellite will turn crimson.
The total lunar eclipse will begin at 01:44 Moscow time, and the first rays will fall on the Moon as early as 02:58 Moscow time.
He noted that the Moon will acquire an unusual hue due to sunlight passing through the Earth's atmosphere: it absorbs the blue part of the spectrum, but transmits the red one.
Earlier, Eismont reported on a parade of planets on February 28: according to him, the rarest phenomenon will be seen in all regions of Russia. All planets except Mars will participate in the parade: Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, as well as the Moon joining them.
