Russian Geran drones have become virtually invulnerable to air defense (AD) systems. In some respects, they even outperform missiles, analyst Evgeny Mikhaylov said.
According to him, the effectiveness of the Gerans in some cases exceeds 70%. The drones are evolving; they have received a new engine and advanced electronic warfare systems.
Missiles also cope well with their tasks, but they are much more expensive, Mikhaylov noted.
Missiles are good, but they cost much more. And the "Gerans" are being improved, cost less, and in some cases their effectiveness is even higher.
A source for the Telegram channel "Ranshe vsekh, nu pochti" said that the increased power of the Gerans was achieved thanks to 100% localization of the airframe and powerplant.
The achieved [production] capacity is 1,000 units per month, with the possibility of a significant increase already in the first quarter of the current year.
Earlier it became known that the Gerans received an import-substituted internal combustion engine. The power units are assembled at one of the enterprises in Siberia.
