New "Volga" Will Be Made by Robots: They Were Entrusted with Welding and Painting Bodies

The manufacturer promises compliance with global safety and quality standards

More than a hundred industrial robots operate in the welding and painting shops at the VOLGA plant in Nizhny Novgorod, modern assembly lines and a multi-stage quality control system have been installed, the manufacturer said.

The project is positioned as a path to technological independence. Production should become a driver of growth for regional industry, create new jobs and stimulate the development of related industries.

It is claimed that the company's plans include a gradual increase in localization and the maximum possible involvement of Russian solutions and components that meet the high requirements for the production of VOLGA.

Earlier it was reported that the VOLGA project is being implemented by PLA JSC (Passenger Car Production). At the first stage, the line will be represented by three models: D-SUV, C-SUV and D-sedan. Production will be located at the plant where European Skoda and Volkswagen used to be assembled.
