Rostec's Vysokotochnye Kompleksy holding has delivered another batch of surface-to-air guided missiles to the Ministry of Defence for the Pantsir family of systems. The shipment included both standard SAMs and short-range interception missiles - mini-SAMs. This was reported by Rostec's press service.
The key advantage of the mini-SAM is the multiple growth in ammunition load. A standard Pantsir launcher holds 12 missiles. When switching to mini-SAMs, the capacity of the launch rails increases to 48 units. The final ratio of standard missiles to mini-SAMs varies depending on the tasks being addressed.
The new munitions are designed to engage a wide range of targets in the close zone, including small-sized unmanned aerial vehicles. The main characteristics of the products were confirmed during testing.
Rostec recalled that Pantsir family systems in real combat conditions have intercepted ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles, as well as the HARM anti-radiation missile.
