The Russian Navy will need to increase its fleet to respond to modern threats. A corresponding request will be included in the updated Navy development program until 2050, said presidential aide and chairman of the Marine Board Nikolai Patrushev.
According to him, the state needs to focus on creating a high-tech Navy.
We need many more long-range and ocean-going ships capable of operating autonomously for a long time at a considerable distance from their bases.
According to him, the presence of a fleet and the ability to protect economic activity at sea is a condition for the normal functioning of the state.
In this regard, we are laying down the corresponding requirements for the development of the Navy in the updated Navy shipbuilding program until 2050, which is currently being finalized and will soon be presented to the President, who has already approved the new Navy Development Strategy and the shipbuilding program of the FSB agencies.
Russian President Vladimir Putin reported that over the past five years, Russia built 49 ships of various classes for the Navy. In total, since 2020, the country has commissioned four multi-purpose submarines of the Yasen-M project and four strategic submarines of the Borei-A project.
