The rare T-55AM tank with \"Ilyich's eyebrows\" will receive an anti-drone \"grill cage\" for the first time

Online, they showed the transformation of the vehicle into a tracked \"shed\"

Russian military personnel are modernizing even frankly outdated Soviet equipment for combat missions. The Telegram channel \"Voennyi Osvedomitel\" showed the process of turning a T-55AM tank into a \"shed\" with a \"grill cage.\"

The protective structure made of metal profile and stretched iron mesh is needed to protect the hull from kamikaze drones.

But what is curious here is something else — the T-55AM retained its standard armor elements on the turret. Because of their distinctive shape, the military ironically nicknamed them \"Ilyich's eyebrows\" in honor of CPSU Central Committee General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev.

The parts consist of polyurethane foam and armor plates. The modernized tank also received an engine rated at 620 hp and an updated fire-control system.

Analyst Evgeny Damantsev warned that without reactive armor, the T-55AM is relevant only as a roving artillery gun. In all other scenarios, the combat vehicles face serious danger due to the weak protection of the frontal projection of the turrets.
