Three new electric ships — "Moscow 2.0" and two "Fontanka 2.0" vessels — will arrive in Nizhny Novgorod in 2026. The electric ships will join the city's excursion fleet, the acting director of the tourism development and external relations department of the city administration said at a meeting of the City Duma's economic commission.
The "Fontanka 2.0" electric ships are planned to be deployed on the route from the Chkalov Staircase to the Strelka. The new river transport will operate on one of the key tourist routes in the city center. The "Moscow 2.0" will sail on the Oka and Volga rivers. The vessel will also be equipped with a restaurant on board.
In addition, the excursion vessel "Neva 4" will be modernized in Nizhny Novgorod. It is intended to be used in the format of a "beer bar on the water." This decision will expand the format of river trips and complement the existing offerings for passengers.
According to information from open sources, the company "Vodokhod" will operate the new electric ships.
At present, Nizhny Novgorod's excursion fleet is operated by several companies. The company "Vodokhod" has three cruise motor ships in service — "Mstislav Rostropovich," "Alexander Radishchev," and "Mikhail Frunze," as well as four excursion vessels — "Ekokhod 3," "Moscow 143," "Moscow 198," and "Neva 4."
The shipping company "Gamma" owns two double-deck vessels — "Aldan" and "Alexander Sveshnikov," six triple-deck vessels — "Ivan Kulibin," "Afanasy Nikitin," "October Revolution," "Alexander Popov," "Golden Ring," and "Aurum," as well as three excursion vessels — "Sura," "Kolesov," and "Dobrokhod."
The company "Vodolet" operates seven vessels in Nizhny Novgorod: five of the "Valdai" type and two of the "Meteor" type.
