Schoolchildren Can't Get Through: Energy Drink Sellers Want to Sell Online Only with Biometrics

The method is already being tested when ordering delivery, in vending machines and at self-service checkouts in Moscow

Manufacturers have proposed introducing biometric identification for the remote sale of energy drinks: Soyuznapitki and the National Association of Energy Drink Producers and Sellers sent an appeal to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko, TASS reports.

According to the authors, mandatory confirmation of age through biometric systems will reliably limit the access of minors to energy drinks.

At the same time, the age verification service for 18+ products is already working, the Center for Biometric Technologies said. In pilot mode, it is used for online delivery in Moscow, as well as in vending machines and at self-service checkouts.

Earlier it was reported about the intention to submit to the State Duma a bill that would allow the use of biometrics for access to schools. The biometric system should become an alternative to ordinary passes and, according to the authors, increase the safety of students.
