This is the third vessel in the series built by the Astrakhan enterprise USC. Previously, the shipyard had already delivered two similar dry cargo ships under the Caspian Fleet Development Program.

Dry cargo vessels of the RSD 49 project belong to the "Volga-Don max" class and have extended functionality for operation in mixed "river-sea" mode. The vessel has a length of 139.95 m, a width of 16.5 m, a board height of 6.0 m and a deadweight of 7154 tons in marine conditions (4518 tons in the river version).

A feature of the design is a three-hold layout with a cargo space volume of 10,920 m³, including a unique middle hold with a length of 52 m, which allows transporting oversized and bulky cargo without additional reloading.

The vessel is adapted for the transportation of a wide range of cargo: general, bulk, timber, grain, as well as dangerous goods in accordance with international requirements. The vessel's draft is 4.70 m in the sea and 3.60 m in the river version, which provides access to the ports of the Caspian basin with limited depths.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the Lotos shipyard will pay 170 million rubles for the delay of the Caspian Coast dry cargo ship.
