The Russian medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) "Oreshnik" cannot be intercepted by any air defense system (ADS) due to its enormous speed. This was stated by the former head of the department of the Combat Training Directorate of the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN), Colonel Nikolai Shabaltas.
No existing air defense system can yet counter the "Oreshnik" because it is moving at a very high speed.
Shabaltas confirmed that the United States, even with all its desire, cannot intercept the missile, even despite notification of the launch.
The warheads of the "Oreshnik" MRBM accelerate to 13,475 km/h. A video was presented on the Web, demonstrating the difference in speed with other hypersonic missiles.
Military analyst Yuri Knutov explained that the MRBM changed the very essence of air defense. For example, to intercept one missile, you need to use six THAAD launchers at once.
