Czech Jawa Motorcycles Return to Russia

The company is betting on nostalgia and a recognizable brand

An updated distributor of Jawa motorcycles is entering the Russian market, Izvestia reports. Jawa Yugostroy, the official representative of the Czech manufacturer, will handle the deliveries. It has replaced the previous distributor, Jawa Russia (the Plamen network), which is currently selling off the remaining equipment.

Four Indian-assembled models have already been approved for sale in Russia: Jawa 300 CL, 350 CL 42, and 42 FJ. These are modern motorcycles in a retro style with 4-stroke engines (295 and 334 cc). The motorcycles are produced at the Mahindra concern's factory in India and refined for Europe and Russia in the Czech Republic. At the same time, the company is preparing to supply two-stroke Jawa motorcycles of Czech assembly — Style and Retro versions. A batch has already been formed. Models with a sidecar are not declared, but it will be possible to independently install a sidecar in workshops.

Since 2007, Jawa Russia has been the distributor of Jawa motorcycles in the Russian Federation, selling them through the Plamen motorcycle dealership network. But at the end of 2024, the Czech owner of Jawa Moto, who also owns Yugostroy, opened a single representative office in Russia — Jawa Yugostroy. It took over the rights to import the main models from the former importer, Plamen.

Experts believe that Jawa has a chance to win the market thanks to nostalgia and a recognizable brand. A successful example for Jawa is the experience of the Indian company Royal Enfield: in 2024, their motorcycles outsold Harley-Davidson in Russia (737 versus 627), and in 2025 the gap increased to 1116 versus 643.
