The General Director of Russian Railways, Oleg Belozerov, announced the task for 2026: together with the owners of wagons, operators and wagon builders, to develop update programs focused on the purchase of new innovative models.
In his opinion, stimulating measures and adjustments to the standards for the service life of freight wagons will be required for implementation. Belozerov expressed hope for the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
He also noted the tense situation in the locomotive complex: the company is implementing a planned program of updating and purchasing new models, but there are no fundamental changes in the reliability of products, the quality of maintenance and repair. In addition, the technical readiness indicators declared by the manufacturers are not achieved.
Belozerov pointed out that the root cause of losses in traffic volumes in the eastern direction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline is locomotive failures. According to him, service companies are not making significant improvements in resource provision and technological discipline.
The General Director stressed the need for a serious update of the model of interaction between Russian Railways and partners - from contractual relations to regulations of current activities.
