The Gorno-Altai Transport Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation into compliance with flight safety regulations following the publication of a video of a Robinson helicopter landing on the frozen surface of a reservoir in the Altai Republic.
The incident occurred at the foot of Mount Belukha at an altitude of 2500 meters, where Novosibirsk photographer Vadim Makhorov and pilot Andrei Melnikov organized an improvised hockey match on the ice.
The main difficulty was finding a place free of snow. They reached the desired point by Robinson helicopter. The photo shows that they managed to find the perfect landing spot — a frozen reservoir at the foot of the mountain at an altitude of 2500 meters.
Landing in high mountains requires taking into account wind loads, ice thickness, and limitations for the Robinson helicopter, which is designed for light operations but vulnerable in extreme conditions.
