As part of the preparation of equipment for operation in high latitudes, the Zvezda amphibious all-terrain vehicles passed a new stage of winter tests. The main purpose of the test was to assess the operational characteristics in conditions simulating a harsh Arctic winter: deep snow, low temperatures and difficult terrain. The depth of snowdrifts reached 90 centimeters.
The tests included checking the cross-country ability in loose snow cover more than a meter thick, overcoming snowy obstacles, the reliability of starting, heating and operating units in long-term operation in the cold, as well as optimizing driving modes and tire pressure to maintain maximum speed with high cross-country ability.
All-terrain vehicles with a 6×6 wheel formula showed confident running, high traction and full controllability, which is critical for safe operation in the Far North and the Arctic. The vehicles successfully coped with amphibious sections, demonstrating stability and controllability on snow and ice.
The testing process is part of the development cycle of equipment for Arctic conditions. It is aimed at ensuring the readiness of all-terrain vehicles to work in extremely cold climates, where reliability, mobility and safety directly affect the survival of crews and the effectiveness of operations.
