The difficult ice situation on the Moscow River has led to changes in the operation of river transport. Electric ships are forced to run on a reduced schedule with increased intervals, reports the Department of Transport.
A difficult ice situation persists in the water area of the piers of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd routes of regular river electric transport.
To maintain navigation on the routes, 5 icebreakers are involved. At the same time, traffic at several piers has been temporarily suspended: "Trekhgorny", "Moscow Shipyard", "Zaton Novinki" and "Nagatinsky Zaton" do not receive or send ships.
Earlier, the MSU weather station recorded a snow cover height of 59 cm for the first time in 72 years, which exceeded the maximum of 1994 (57 cm). The abnormally cold winter in Moscow was caused by deep cyclones with aggravated atmospheric fronts. The average temperature of the month was –6.2 °C, which is one and a half degrees below the climatic norm of the region.
