The bulk carrier Glyfada, flying the flag of Malta, continued its journey to the port of destination — Ust-Luga in the Kingisepp district of the Leningrad region, after colliding with another dry cargo ship, the Northwestern Transport Prosecutor's Office reported. The collision was tangential.
The emergency occurred in the afternoon of February 7 in the waters of the Gulf of Finland — ships flying the flags of Malta and Portugal left the port of St. Petersburg the night before. According to preliminary information, serious consequences were avoided: there were no casualties, and no oil spills or other environmental pollution were recorded.
Earlier it was reported that the dry cargo ship Sfera, which was traveling from the port of Ust-Luga to the port of Denmark with a cargo of 72 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers, ran aground in the Gulf of Finland on the morning of February 7. There were no casualties, and the ship's hull was not damaged, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Leningrad Region reported.
