The Russian BTR-22 with the unmanned combat module "Ballista" will become a powerful tank hunter

The latest development has been equipped with a cannon and anti-tank missiles

In the coming days, on February 8, at the prestigious World Defense Show 2026 international defense and security exhibition in Riyadh, Russian specialists will present the promising BTR-22 armored personnel carrier. Particular attention is drawn to the integration of the "Ballista" module, which significantly increases the vehicle's firepower, turning it into an effective destroyer of heavy armored equipment.

According to information from the developers, "Ballista" includes a 2A42 automatic cannon and a pair of guided anti-tank missiles. This combination makes it possible to engage a wide range of targets — from infantry and lightly armored vehicles to main battle tanks, IFVs, APCs, and even fortification sites.

The developer also notes that some modifications are capable of overcoming water obstacles without additional preparation, which expands its tactical capabilities.

The integration of "Ballista" underscores the trend toward creating multifunctional vehicles capable of adapting to different scenarios — from infantry support to anti-tank warfare.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Russian military modernized the Soviet BTR-50: "barbecues" against drones and a powerful "Utyos".
