Aeroflot airline invested 12 billion rubles in software import substitution in 2025. This was reported by acting Deputy CEO for Information Technology and Information Security of the air carrier Denis Popov.
According to Denis Popov, the funds were also directed to projects within the framework of industrial competence centers (ICC). All investments were made from the company's own resources.
Previously, Aeroflot's key services ran on foreign software. Changes in legislation in 2022 forced the company to look for alternatives.
Aeroflot carried out the replacement of key foreign systems that formed the basis of flight management and fleet maintenance. The Swiss AMOS gave way to the domestic platform "Kupol" for comprehensive support of the aircraft life cycle.
The company's passenger booking and service have now been carried out using the Russian system "Leonardo" (developers — Sirena Travel and Rostec) since 2022. It replaced the American Sabre.
Despite the adopted course of import substitution of foreign software, Aeroflot often experiences problems with domestic versions. On January 26, issues were reported in the operation of the Leonardo airline ticket booking system. The failure affected the flight schedule, and some flights had to be canceled. The situation was explained as an internal technical problem at Sirena Travel.
