Smartphone inspections of passengers will be introduced in the Moscow Metro. The new rules are established by Order No. 34 of the Russian Ministry of Transport dated February 4, 2025.
Checks of mobile devices may be applied in addition to existing security measures.
State Duma deputy Oleg Leonov from the "New People" party noted that metro security service employees do not have the right to view the contents of phones.
A person must demonstrate that the device is operational, proving by simply turning it on that it is electronic equipment and not a mock-up containing explosives.
During rush hours, inspections will be carried out selectively. This approach is similar to the practice of checking passengers' luggage at airports, where at screening checkpoints they are asked to present electronic devices to verify that they are operational.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Rostekh developed the ST-2635PG inspection and screening system.
