Niva Travel with a 1.8 EVO engine: RCI Service unveiled a 140 hp naturally aspirated upgrade

The cost of the full scope of work is 270,000 rubles

Specialists from RCI Service have introduced to the Russian market a full-fledged naturally aspirated kit for the Lada Niva Travel SUV, based on the component platform of the 1.8-liter naturally aspirated VAZ-21179 engine (1.8 EVO), known from Lada Vesta trims. In its standard configuration, the model is equipped with the 1.8-liter VAZ-11184 engine, producing a modest 90 hp and 153 Nm of torque, which limits the vehicle's dynamic capabilities during active driving.

The engineering solution from the tuning atelier involves replacing key powertrain components while preserving the original architecture of the engine bay. The naturally aspirated kit includes a 16-valve cylinder head, camshafts with an optimized profile to improve low-end performance, an intake system from the Lada Vesta 1.8, as well as a specially developed exhaust system. Notably, the electronic control unit remains standard — parameter calibration is performed via software without replacing the engine's "brain".

According to the developers, after installation and comprehensive break-in, the engine delivers around 130–140 hp and 200–210 Nm of torque. This increase significantly transforms the SUV's character: low-end pulling power improves, elasticity in the urban cycle increases, and acceleration on the highway becomes more confident, which positively affects safety during overtaking. At the same time, the stated service life of the upgraded unit remains at the level of factory figures thanks to the use of proven engineering solutions and high-quality components.

The cost of the full cycle of work — from the supply of components to final tuning and break-in — is 270,000 rubles. The service is provided in a "turnkey" format, eliminating the need to independently search for components and additional contractors.
