The Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal upheld the lower court's decision to recover penalty sanctions totaling 170 million rubles from the Lotos shipbuilding plant, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation. The funds are to be paid for violating the schedule for handing over the project RSD49 dry cargo vessel "Kaspiysky Bereg" to the customer, as well as for failing to meet certain stages of the production program.
According to procedure, the issued ruling may be appealed within one month to the Twelfth Arbitration Court of Appeal through the registry of the Arbitration Court of the Astrakhan Region, where the dispute was originally considered.
Despite the court proceedings, the final work on the dry cargo vessel "Kaspiysky Bereg" is in its final stage. Industry sources report that delivery of the vessel to the customer is scheduled for the coming weeks, which will make it possible to close the project despite the organizational difficulties that arose during construction.
"Kaspiysky Bereg" is a multifunctional dry cargo vessel of project RSD49, construction of which began in April 2017 at the Astrakhan shipyard of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC).
