The State Duma proposed notifying citizens about tax debts via social networks and the Max messenger

The initiative proposes monthly informing citizens about outstanding debts

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy Mikhail Delyagin ("A Just Russia") sent an appeal to Finance Minister Anton Siluanov proposing the introduction of mandatory notification for citizens and individual entrepreneurs about tax debts.

According to the deputy's plan, notifications should be sent monthly — at least once a month — via SMS, email, banking apps, as well as through domestic social networks and the messengers "VKontakte," "Odnoklassniki," and the Max messenger.

Delyagin noted that many citizens are unaware of their existing debts, which leads to penalties and fines being accrued for years, while bank accounts are suddenly blocked. Currently, information about outstanding debt can be found on the Federal Tax Service website, on the Gosuslugi portal, or in a number of banking apps; however, notifications by email and phone are sent only with the taxpayer's voluntary consent.

In the deputy's opinion, the introduction of mandatory notification will make it possible to increase tax collection and reduce the number of overdue mandatory payments. Timely informing citizens, Delyagin emphasized, will help prevent the accumulation of debts and unexpected account blockages.
