The An-124-100 "Ruslan" super-heavy transport aircraft of Volga-Dnepr Airlines performed a special flight to Bratsk Airport, delivering a large runner for the hydro unit of the Bratsk hydroelectric power plant. The transportation became one of the key logistical stages in the modernization program of the Angara cascade's largest HPP, implemented by the En+ energy holding.
According to representatives of the energy company, the weight and dimensions of the cargo did not allow the use of standard transport solutions. The choice of the An-124-100 was due to its unique carrying capacity, the ability to transport non-separable products, and the availability of specialized onboard equipment for loading and unloading heavy industrial components. The aircraft delivered the runner directly to Bratsk, which reduced logistics times and minimized transportation risks.
The new runner is intended to replace the worn-out element of one of the Bratsk HPP's hydro units. The use of the An-124-100 ensured precise adherence to the repair campaign schedule.
The Bratsk HPP is one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in Russia and is a key facility in En+'s energy segment. The company is implementing a phased equipment upgrade program at the station, which includes replacing runners, generators, control systems, and automation.
