In 2025, Russian Railways updated its fleet of long-distance passenger trains: the total number of cars put into operation exceeded 500. This is reported on the company's official website.
Of these, 386 are new cars manufactured by the Tver Carriage Works. Among them are 241 single-deck and 145 double-deck cars. These cars are already used on key routes: from Moscow to St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod and Surgut, and from St. Petersburg to Belgorod and Bryansk, as well as on other routes.
Particular attention was drawn to 24 compartment cars of T gauge, used for the first time in passenger transportation. Two of them are staff cars, equipped with special compartments for passengers with limited mobility (two compartments in each).
In addition, 83 cars returned to service after major overhaul, receiving a second life. Also last year, 38 modernized sleeping cars of the SV class were put on the network.
Earlier www1.ru reported that «Мечел» launched the production of 100-meter rails for freight trains and high-speed trains up to 400 km/h.
