Russian Railways renewed its long-distance fleet with more than 500 carriages

In 2025, the company put into service new and refurbished carriages, including the first-ever compartment cars of T gauge

In 2025, OAO "RZhD" renewed the rolling stock of long-distance passenger trains: the total number of carriages put into service exceeded 500. This was reported on the company’s official website.

Of these, 386 are new carriages produced by the Tver Carriage Works. Among them are 241 single-deck and 145 double-deck cars. These carriages are already operating on key routes: from Moscow to St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, and Surgut, and from St. Petersburg to Belgorod and Bryansk, as well as on other routes.

Particular attention was drawn to 24 compartment cars of T gauge, used in passenger transportation for the first time. Two of them are staff cars equipped with special compartments for passengers with limited mobility (two compartments in each).

In addition, 83 carriages returned to service after major overhaul and restoration, receiving a second life. Also last year, 38 modernized SV-class carriages entered the network.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that "Mechel" launched production of 100-meter rails for freight trains and HSR trains up to 400 km/h.
