New geography textbooks will include interactive maps and AI-based assignments

Schoolchildren will be able to study Russia with the help of animated images

The new unified geography textbook for grades 5–11, being developed by the Russian Geographical Society (RGS), will include assignments using artificial intelligence and digital maps, Ilya Gurov, First Deputy Executive Director of the RGS, told TASS.

According to him, schoolchildren will be able to work with animated images and interactive maps, which will make it possible to study geographical objects and processes visually. The new technologies will help adapt the textbook to modern realities, since children actively use AI and digital services in everyday life.

The textbook package will include teaching materials for teachers, atlases, and outline maps developed with the capabilities of digital technologies in mind.

Gurov emphasized that the use of AI and interactive visualizations makes learning more engaging and visual, allowing schoolchildren to gain a deeper understanding of the geography of their own country.
