The Altai enterprise Barnaultransmash has launched a new crankshaft heat treatment workshop in record time. The unit was created in just a year without stopping the main production, Rostec said.
The work of the new workshop will comprehensively increase the wear resistance and quality of critical engine parts. Crankshafts after heat treatment receive increased strength and durability, the state corporation said.
Commissioning works in the new workshop were carried out in parallel with the functioning of the existing section, and the schedule for the manufacture of the main elements of diesel engines was adjusted specifically for this.
Some of the equipment for the new workshop was purchased as part of the company's investment program, and some was transferred from the old workshop and integrated into the new technological chain.
It is expected that the new workshop will also create a reserve for the development of new market niches that require parts with increased performance characteristics.
As a reminder, Barnaultransmash is part of the High-Precision Complexes holding and produces UTD family diesel engines for the BMP-3 and BMD-4. Last year, the company also introduced new equipment and modernized existing facilities.
