Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan highly appreciated the combat capabilities of the Su-30SM fighters supplied from Russia, emphasizing their strategic importance for ensuring the country's territorial integrity. According to him, multi-purpose aviation complexes are capable of significantly strengthening the defense potential of the Air Force of the republic.
Today we have sufficient weapons for the Su-30, including a certain replenishment expected. The Su-30 fighters are quite good: I highly appreciate their role and believe that they can play an important role in air defense and ensuring territorial integrity.
The contract for the supply of four Su-30SM aircraft was signed between Yerevan and Moscow in January 2019 as part of deepening bilateral military-technical cooperation. The first machines entered the Armenian army in 2020 and have been on combat duty ever since.
