Indigenous peoples of the North in remote villages will get access to the Internet

The government has obliged the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation to implement this project

The Ministry of Digital Development of Russia will work on the issue of connecting villages and towns where indigenous minorities of the North live to the Internet. The corresponding order was given by the Cabinet.

The events are scheduled for 2026-2028. The plan is part of the Concept for the Sustainable Development of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East for the period up to 2036.

Funds from the federal budget will be allocated for the implementation of the project. The Russian authorities expect to improve the quality of communication and provide high-speed Internet access in remote settlements. First of all, we are talking about social infrastructure facilities (educational and healthcare institutions).
