High-tech operations, including cataract removal and knee joint treatment, have become more accessible to patients of Moscow medical institutions. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
We can perform a minimally invasive cataract removal surgery in just 15-20 minutes and restore full vision. The same applies to operations for hip fractures and treatment of knee joints.
Minimally invasive operations are carried out in the following areas:
- cardiology
- ophthalmology
- cardiovascular surgery
- thoracic surgery (treatment of chest organs)
- maxillofacial surgery
- neurosurgery
- traumatology and orthopedics
- gynecology
According to the mayor, previously such operations were performed only in a few scientific centers, now they are available in city hospitals under the compulsory health insurance policy. Sobyanin added that in 2026, the time between diagnosis and surgery will be reduced to 10 days.
