A bow-tie shaped diamond found at a deposit in the Arkhangelsk region could be worth more than 10 million rubles, Eduard Lysenker, director of the consulting company "S+conalting", told TASS.
He noted that the unique shape of the stone makes it collectible, and at auction the price may exceed 10 million rubles. The decision on the sale will be made by the company: the crystal can be put up for a specialized auction or offered to Gokhran. For a possible sale abroad, a permit from the Ministry of Finance will be required.
Lysenker explained that the assessment of such stones is influenced by the calculations of gemmologists, the intuition of collectors and the history of the nugget itself. Two similar 10-carat stones can be sold for $3 million and $6 million, depending on the auction conditions. The main value of the "Bow" is its non-standard shape, which gives the stone a collectible rarity, not its weight.
Earlier it was reported that a 2.94 carat crystal was mined at the M. V. Lomonosov deposit. The diamond is a coalescence of spinel twins - a rare mineralogical form formed during crystallization, and was named "Bow" for its resemblance to a bow knot.
The only diamond deposits in Europe are located in the Arkhangelsk region: the M. V. Lomonosov deposit in the Primorsky district, developed by "Severalmaz", and the V. Grib deposit in the Mezen district, which is managed by "AGD diamonds".
