We'll Do Without the Germans: KAMAZ Sees No Need for Daimler to Return to the Company's Capital

The management believes that the company is capable of independently developing its model range

The management of the Kama Automobile Plant sees no need for the German concern Daimler Truck AG to return to the company's capital. This was announced by the head of KAMAZ, Sergey Kogogin, in an interview with TV journalist Pavel Zarubin.

Kogogin emphasized that Mercedes-Benz has the right and opportunity to return to KAMAZ's capital, but at the moment this is not a necessity for the Russian manufacturer. According to him, the company is capable of independently developing its model range and technologies without the participation of a German partner.

Daimler became a strategic partner of KAMAZ in 2008. With its help, the Russian automaker completely updated the line of trucks to the K5 generation and mastered the production of new turbo diesel engines. Despite the breakdown in relations between Russia and the West in 2022, the German concern retained a stake in KAMAZ until 2024, when it finally sold the stake.

The refusal to return foreign investors reflects KAMAZ's desire for independent development and technological independence.
