The installation of the fourth and final shell of the peripheral cavity of the BREST-OD-300 reactor has been completed at the site of the Pilot Demonstration Energy Complex (ODEC) of the Siberian Chemical Combine (SCC). All four structures, manufactured by the enterprises of the Rosatom machine-building division, together weigh over 1000 tons.
The next step will be to combine the peripheral cavities with the central shell, which was installed back in September. This will form a single closed circuit designed for the circulation of the lead coolant. In the future, steam generators, main circulation pumps, coolant purification system equipment and other key components of the in-vessel arrangement will be placed inside this circuit.
According to information provided by Ivan Babich, a representative of the ODEC SCC management, the reactor block of the BREST-OD-300 is approximately 70% assembled to date. In 2026, it is planned to complete the formation of the lead coolant circulation circuit, complete the concreting of the vessel and install all the main in-vessel equipment. The final assembly of the reactor block vessel is scheduled for the end of 2026.
