TMH to Supply 47 More Ivolga Trains to Moscow Central Diameters by 2030

The company is expanding its fleet of modern electric trains after completing a six-year rolling stock renewal program

JSC Metrowagonmash (part of Transmashholding) and State Unitary Enterprise Moscow Metro have agreed on an addendum to the contract concluded in 2022. According to the new agreement, in 2025, another EGE2Tv Ivolga 4.0 direct current electric train will be delivered to the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD), and from 2026 to 2030, another 46 EGE2Tv trains in various modifications. Each of them will consist of 11 cars, including two head cars.

The 100th Ivolga 4.0 train

The Ivolga family of electric trains was developed by Russian engineers at TMH-Engineering specifically for integration into the MCD infrastructure at the initiative of the Moscow Government.

The main features of these trains are increased passenger comfort and improved throughput. Key solutions include wide doorways, a pneumatic suspension system to reduce noise, a large number of handrails, modern USB sockets, information displays, media screens, and a well-thought-out infrastructure for cyclists and e-scooter users, including dedicated parking and charging points. Separate areas are also provided for placing strollers.

Interior of the Ivolga 4.0 car

The main design difference of the Ivolga 4.0 is the three-door layout of the intermediate cars, which significantly speeds up the process of boarding and disembarking passengers compared to previous versions.

The first Ivolga 4.0 trains were put into service in May 2024. By October 2025, the 100th anniversary train of this modification, painted in a special black livery, was put into operation on MCD-4. To date, 19 Ivolga 3.0 trains and more than 40 Ivolga 4.0 trains are used on MCD routes.
