The Russian military industry has earned about $15 billion from the supply and production of Su-30MKI in India. This was reported by Ivan Grachev, Chief Researcher at the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to him, there are about 300 of these fighters in the Indian army, the average price of one is in the region of $35 million.
Engines and other elements for it are supplied from the Russian Federation, but the aircraft are assembled at purely Indian enterprises, there is no joint production there. Russia's earnings since the start of deliveries amount to 12–15 billion dollars. This is also very decent money.
It is worth recalling that the first transfer of vehicles in the "MKI" modification took place on June 30, 2002, and the equipment was delivered to the airbase in Pune.
Currently, Delhi has reached a high level of independence in the production of aircraft. In new batches, the share of local components exceeds 60%, and in the modernization plans, this figure should reach 78%.
Earlier it became known that Russia and India could be exploring the possibility of jointly developing a new air-to-air missile with a range of about 500 km for the modernized Su-30MKI.
