Tu-95MS "Bears" flew over the Norwegian Sea under the cover of Su-33 carrier-based fighters

The flight of strategic missile carriers lasted more than seven hours

Russian strategic bomber-missile carriers Tu-95MS made a scheduled flight over the neutral waters of the Norwegian and Barents Seas. At certain stages of the route, they were accompanied by fighters of foreign states, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.

In total, the flight of the "Bears" lasted more than seven hours. The Tu-95MS was escorted by crews of Su-33 carrier-based fighters of the Navy.

The military department recalled that long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific, Baltic and Black Seas. All flights are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.

Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov stated that the Tu-95MS will be modernized by equipping it with more powerful engines and new onboard equipment.
