The online cinema market in Russia has grown by more than 40% this year. A similar figure was recorded in 2024, said Aleksandr Dunaevsky, General Director of Kinopoisk.
Next year, the market may grow by another 20%, if we do not take into account possible inflationary factors.
According to Dunaevsky, market growth is due to a number of reasons. Firstly, more and more Russians are willing to pay for a subscription. The subscription model of content consumption is becoming popular, he explained.
Secondly, the number of subscriptions per user is increasing. Thirdly, prices for access to content are rising.
Part of the television audience is starting to watch TV channels, including on video services.
Thus, TV channels are forced to increase their presence online. This trend will continue in the next decade, Dunaevsky summarized.
