In 2026, the Ulyanovsk region will focus on training new qualified personnel for the aviation industry. This was reported in the press service of the regional government.
The authorities also plan to develop social and road infrastructure of PJSC "Il-Aviastar", where new Il-100 and Il-276 transport aircraft will be produced.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously signed a decree on celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the branch of PJSC "Il" — "Aviastar" in 2026. In connection with this event, the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region announced 2026 in the region as the Year of the Aircraft Builder.
Putin stated during the "Year-End Review" that aircraft construction is an "acute" issue for Russia. According to him, the country has good traditions of aircraft construction, both military and civil, but new modern domestic aircraft are also needed.
As a reminder, "Aviastar" is already mass-producing modernized Il-76MD-90A heavy military transport aircraft and Il-78M-90A tankers based on them.
