The crew of the Russian T-90M "Proryv" main battle tank hit a target at a range of 11.5 km when firing from a closed position. In this position, the combat vehicle operates only on pre-reconnaissance coordinates with a limited firing angle.
In the closed position, each shot is the result of the coordinated work of the gunner-operator, commander and mechanic-driver. In fact, the tank has been turned into a hidden fortress.
Note that the standard firing range of the "Proryv" in a tank battle depends on the specific type of ammunition. For example, the 2A46M-5 gun hits at a distance of up to 4 km with armor-piercing sub-caliber and cumulative shells.
However, in a closed firing position, the crew can use indirect fire, which increases the range by several times. To improve the accuracy of firing at long distances, the T-90M systems were modernized - the updated fire control system more accurately takes into account weather conditions (wind, temperature) and distance to the target.
In September 2025, T-90M tanks also received protection from UAVs - "Arena-M". The new system includes a radar and allows to intercept a drone at a distance of up to 50 meters and a speed of up to 1000 m/s.
