Protecting Against Grinches: Roskomnadzor May Gain the Right to Block Sites Selling Fake Tickets Extrajudicially

Deputy proposes using a green checkmark to identify genuine theater websites

The State Duma discussed the possibility of granting Roskomnadzor the right to extrajudicially block websites selling non-existent tickets to concerts, theatrical performances, and New Year's Eve parties. This was stated by Igor Antropenko, a member of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade.

According to the deputy, fake theater and concert venues are actively spreading on the Internet, where citizens lose money without receiving tickets to the desired events. Antropenko emphasized that the problem is particularly relevant on the eve of the holiday season, when demand for tickets traditionally increases.

The parliamentarian also proposed considering marking the official websites of theaters and concert venues with a special symbol, such as a green checkmark. Such a mark would allow users to quickly determine the authenticity of the resource and avoid fraud.
