Tver Carriage Works (TVZ, part of TMH) has assembled four bodies for a hydrogen train. This was reported in the press service of the enterprise.
The welding shop and the metal structure welding shop of TVZ are involved in their production.
A unique hydrogen train will be designed in two versions. The first locomotive will consist of two head cars with a booster section with power plants and energy storage devices. The second one will consist of three cars (intermediate, booster section and two head cars).
The range of a three-car train is 487 kilometers on hydrogen and 40 km on energy storage devices, a two-car train is 725 kilometers on hydrogen and 80 km on energy storage devices.
The next stage will be the manufacture of bogies. The frame and wheel for the hydrogen train are already undergoing testing.
Testing of the new locomotive is scheduled to begin in 2026. Regular transportation is expected in 2028.
