"Soyuz MS-28" in orbit: astronauts who arrived at the ISS have started working

The crew of the ISS-74 expedition is adapting to weightlessness and preparing for more than 40 scientific experiments

The participants of the long-term ISS-74 expedition, who arrived at the International Space Station on the Soyuz MS-28 manned spacecraft, have successfully adapted to weightlessness and have begun to carry out planned tasks. This was announced by Roscosmos cosmonaut and TASS special correspondent at the ISS, Sergei Kud-Sverchkov.

The crew has been on the station for a week and is transferring shifts, as well as transferring cargo between ships and the station. The shift handover will last until December 9, after which the Soyuz MS-27 crew will return to Earth.

Kud-Sverchkov emphasized that in the first days after arrival, special attention is paid to adaptation to weightlessness, as well as to conducting experiments related to this process.

The Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft docked with the ISS on November 27 at 15:34 Moscow time. The crew includes Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergei Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev, as well as NASA astronaut Christopher Williams.

The mission is scheduled to last 242 days - until the end of July 2026. During this time, the crew will conduct more than 40 scientific experiments and two spacewalks.

Kud-Sverchkov and Mikaev will replace the current cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov and Alexei Zubritsky on the station. The main work program includes studies of the effect of weightlessness on the human body, experiments in the field of materials science, biology and medicine, as well as preparation of equipment for future space missions.

The crew of the International Space Station has increased to 10 people. This happened after the successful arrival of the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft. It was launched with the Soyuz-2.1a rocket on November 27, 2025.
