Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Development and Testing Center to Open in Vladimir Region

The research and production complex will start operating in 2026

A research and production center for unmanned aerial vehicles will open in the Vladimir region in 2026, according to Denis Sinyavsky, the region's vice-governor. He stated that the center is being created not only to develop new UAV models but also to test their use for civilian purposes.

Earlier, it was announced that the Vladimir region had joined a federal experiment on the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles, along with the Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod regions. As part of the project, 1625 experimental flights are planned to take place here over two years. It is planned to use agrodrones for agricultural needs and drones for monitoring forests.

Sinyavsky noted that work on including the region in the program had been underway for about a year. He explained that the region already has the production of unmanned vehicles, as well as enterprises operating in neighboring regions. The preparation of the concept of the research and production center, where not only air, but also ground and water equipment will be developed, is now being completed.

According to the vice-governor, the creation of the center is part of the federal task of forming a network of similar research and production centers (RPCs) throughout the country. He stressed that the experimental legal regime allows organizations and UAV manufacturers to use technology for testing, solving applied problems and developing operating technologies. This is necessary to create a complete ecosystem for testing and implementing unmanned systems.

Sinyavsky added that the Vladimir region plans to develop not only the production of the drones themselves, but also the technologies for their use in various fields, including agricultural, environmental and infrastructure. Details of the project implementation, he said, will be presented later.
