Chinese partners have submitted a proposal for the supply of equipment for the construction of Mutnovskaya GeoPP-2, Roman Berdnikov, a member of the Management Board of PJSC RusHydro, announced at the International Forum "Electric Networks – 2025." The project is being implemented near the existing Mutnovskaya geothermal power plant in Kamchatka.
According to Berdnikov, it concerns, in particular, technologies and components intended for the binary cycle — a modern scheme for converting geothermal energy, which allows efficient use of low-temperature resources. Currently, the design of a new 16.5 MW power unit is being carried out by JSC Lengidroproekt, a subsidiary engineering company of RusHydro.
Previously, RusHydro had already announced its intention to consider cooperation with Chinese power engineering giants such as PowerChina, China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and Dongfang Electric International Corporation. The company notes the high potential for partnership not only within the framework of Russian projects, but also in the implementation of joint initiatives in third countries, where geothermal energy is becoming increasingly in demand.
