Iran has ordered 16 generation "4++" fighters from Russia with delivery from 2025 to 2027. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Military Informant" with reference to sources.
According to preliminary information, the Iranian side has already fully paid for the order in tranches in March, July and December 2024.
Some aircraft should have already received the necessary spare parts in early 2025 and may be ready for delivery.
It should be noted that the Su-35 can carry up to 8 tons of ammunition on 12 suspension points. The arsenal includes air-to-air missiles R-77 and R-27, as well as guided bombs KAB-500. In terms of characteristics, the combat vehicle surpasses many European and American fighters of generations "4 and 4+" - Rafale, Eurofighter 2000, F-15, F-16 and F-18.
In September 2025, a batch of MiG-29 fighters arrived in Iran. Abolfazl Zohrevand, a deputy of the Iranian parliament, noted that the Su-35s will arrive in stages as part of a long-term contract with Russia.
