Specialists from St. Petersburg Peter the Great Polytechnic University (SPbPU) have developed a universal tracked platform for transporting a wheelchair with a passenger. The product was presented at the exhibition of the V Congress of Young Scientists in "Sirius", which was visited by a correspondent of "Perviy Technicheskiy."
The developers stated that the main task of "Zhuchok" is to give people with disabilities (PWD) freedom of movement. With the help of a self-propelled platform, a disabled person will be able to move where a regular wheelchair cannot pass — through snow, sand, and mud.
Features of the product from the Polytechnic University:
- Dimensions: 1397x1206x919 mm
- A wheelchair up to 1100 mm wide can be installed on the platform
- Ground clearance — 140 mm
- Curb weight — 100 kg
- Angle of slope — up to 30°
- Angle of ascent — up to 35°
- Range — more than 10 km
- Speed — 10 km/h
- Charging time — more than 2 hours
Among the advantages of "Zhuchok" are the universal wheelchair mount, as well as a low center of gravity (which contributes to stability), maneuverability, low noise, and environmental friendliness.
"Perviy Technicheskiy" is an industry information partner of the V Congress of Young Scientists, which takes place from November 26 to 28, 2025, on the federal territory of "Sirius." This is the central event of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia.
