«Будем стоять на трёх ногах»: Орбан договорился с Трампом о снятии санкций с АЭС «Пакш-2», которую построит Росатом

Hungary will use Russian, French and American nuclear fuel

American sanctions against the Paks-2 NPP have been completely lifted, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said after talks with US President Donald Trump in Washington. The project is being implemented by Rosatom.

The sanctions were imposed by the administration of US President Joe Biden, Orbán explained.

We were able to agree that the United States will not extend, but completely lift the sanctions.

In addition, the current American authorities have exempted the supply of Russian energy resources from sanctions. This applies to the TurkStream gas pipeline (running from the Krasnodar Territory along the bottom of the Black Sea to Turkey) and the Druzhba oil pipeline (running from Almetyevsk in Tatarstan through a number of European states, including Hungary), the politician added.

According to the Prime Minister, Hungary will receive nuclear fuel from three countries: Russia, France and the USA. Thus, the Paks NPP and the under-construction Paks-2 NPP "will stand on three legs."

The operating Paks station is located 100 km from Budapest. Currently, the NPP generates more than 50% of all electricity in the country. The authorities expect that with the commissioning of Paks-2, 100% of the country's needs will be covered.
